Article XV. Conflict of Interest and Nepotism



Section 1.

A conflict of interest shall include but not be limited to the office holder's ability to decide without bias any matter which affects that person's immediate family, personal, or business interest.

Section 2.

Nepotism means that no two (2) people from the same immediate family will hold a position on an elective body. A person's immediate family shall be defined to mean: husband, wife, son, daughter, father, mother, brother, sister, half-brother, half-sister, step-brother, step-sister, and grandparents or any other legal dependant.

A) Two (2) members of the same immediate family can run for the same elective position, but cannot run for a different position on the same elective body.

B) Members of an immediate family cannot be a candidate if an immediate family member is already seated on said elective body.

C) If an immediate family member is already holding office or is an incumbent in an upcoming election, that person will be given first opportunity to run.
