Resolution No. 062-19 — Stockbridge-Munsee Flag

WHEREAS, The Stockbridge-Munsee Community is a federally-recognized Indian tribe with inherent sovereign powers and is governed by the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Council pursuant to its 1937 Constitution, as amended;

WHEREAS, The Stockbridge-Munsee Community has the authority under its Constitution and its inherent rights as a sovereign nation to adopt and amend ordinances;

WHEREAS, The Stockbridge-Munsee Community has established an official Flag as an exercise of its fundamental right of sovereignty and self-determination; and

WHEREAS, The Tribe wishes to establish a code of conduct addressing the use, display, and respect for the Stockbridge-Munsee Flag;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Council hereby adopts a new Chapter 70, Stockbridge-Munsee Flag Ordinance, as part of Stockbridge-Munsee tribal law.
