Earlier this week NARF Staff Attorneys Steve Moore and Brett Lee Shelton participated in the Expert Group Meeting on Native American Traditional Justice Practices held at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) headquarters in Washington, DC.  The meeting was jointly sponsored by DOJ’s Access to Justice Initiative and the U.S. Department of the Interior’s (DOI) Bureau of Indian Affairs and included a panel of several tribal experts with significant experienced in peacemaking, as well as many DOJ and DOI officials.  Steve Moore gave a presentation on the Traditional Justice Practices of Native American Communities panel, along with NARF Board Member Chief Justice Barbara Smith of the Chickasaw Nation, pictured above.
