Law and Order Code of the Fort McDermitt Paiute and Shoshone Tribe, Nevada
Code last amended: 2008
Chapter
11. Recognition of Foreign Judgments
Legislative History
Comprehensive provisions drafted by Ronald E. Johnny, Chairman, were presented to the Tribal Council for consideration in response to the Solicitor of the Phoenix Area Office ruling that an order of our Tribal Court could not be enforced by another Tribal Court because that court had not adopted a Recognition of Foreign Judgments Act authorizing Full Faith and Credit to foreign judgments. Because the Solicitor's Opinion did not discuss the concept of "comity", Chairman Johnny drafted comprehensive provisions.
Following discussion by tribal council members, this chapter is reserved by act of the Tribal Council.
